Care Package for Aussies Living Overseas

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi Oi Oi Care package!

When you are a world away from your family and friends in an undiscovered country filled with new faces, a new language to understand and a completely different cuisine to get used to, receiving a care package from your loved one is the best feeling in the world.

It is the feeling of Christmas day all over again opening up to a box of goodies knowing that a loved one put together this package filled with your favourite foods and knick knacks you can't get any where else but at home. It is the amazing feeling of love and warmth from your family letting you know that they miss you and think of you everyday. Its a big hug from miles away which keeps you  positive and strong in your journey abroad.

Having a family member living on the other side of the globe I decided to whip up a Australian care package filled with the iconic Aussie spreads, candy and the personal requests of noodles, asian nibbles and toiletries.

Care package items
My Aussie/ Asian Care Package includes:
1  x value pack Tim Tams (22 biscuits)
1 x travel tube of Vegemite
3 x tubes of Sensodyne toothpaste
1 x 50 pack fabric band aids
2 x packets of Vermicelli noodles
2 x packets of Adriano Zumbo Tim Tams
1 x small tin of Milo
1 x box of Japanese Curry cubes
1 x tube of Paw-Paw ointment
1 x box of Pizza Shapes
2 x Malteaser bunnies
1 x packet of Honey Twist chips

It might not look like much but this weighed 3 kgs in total which was going to cost a lot to send internationally. The fact that the package had chocolate in it I preferred a reliable courier service to get it to my family asap.
Australia post gave me a quote of $100 to post it to Germany but this did not include tracking or insurance but with the help of Google I came across a great Australian based online parcel broker known as Interparcel who have accounts with the world's largest and most trusted courier companies such as TNT, DHL, UPS, etc. In doing so they receive excellent discounts off the selling rate to courier anything and just about everything both nationally and internationally.
With a 3kg package and 20cm x 20cm x 15cm parcel I was able to get TNT express courier service that includes parcel tracking and insurance for $86!

As a customer all you need to do is fill out the necessary customs forms, address details as well as choosing a time and date that suits you for the courier to pop round and pick up the package from your residence. The package flown out on the next plane to its destination and you have the luxury of being able to track its where abouts from the moment it leaves your residence to the moment it is received abroad.

The parcel arrived in less than a week to its destination in one shape. My family were thrilled to receive the care package and introduced colleagues to the joys of Australian food.
Vegemite, a popular Australian breakfast spread was a hit with some German friends although they did find it slightly salty but on the flip side, the chocolate Tim Tam biscuits were a winner for all.

Overall, Interparcel is an excellent and professional courier service and I highly recommend it to those interested in sending items internationally whether it is from an eBay transaction or just sending a loved one gifts from home.

Jenny xoxo
